The World’s Littlest Baby Hands And Feet

I have always known the impending decision to have children would change my life. The first time it really started to impact me was, accept it or not, picking out furniture for our first baby’s nursery. The entirety of the house was decked out with beautiful furniture, clean modern lines and edgy modern designs, where did our child’s play house fit into that? I was determined to give my baby a normal youth, but could I do it without giving up the look of my home?

Naturally I knew that metal sculptures likely would not be the best nursery accessory, particularly by the point this tiny one was finally walking around. So I turned to some more conventional means of decoration. I found a brilliant woodman who was a year off from retirement and made his remaining days a great challenge! From a toy box with complex woodcarving to cute carvings lining the cot, I fit stunning detail in where ever I could.

During my first trip to the local baby store, I was let down. I had been expecting a wide range, more than I could see in a day. Sadly I was in a small town and we were fortunate to have only 2 baby stores. So I started searching the web and before long I found just what I was after. From inspiring older second hand pieces that just required a coat of French polish to be functional to trendy toys in bronzes, it was all out there on the web.

Eight months in I had bought just about everything, from cloth nappies (and on a last thought disposable nappies) to all the standard baby accessories. The baby shower endowed me with a huge spread of carefully and lovingly picked gifts, from boutique crayons and gift certificates for bassinets to disposable nappies. But the best gift of all was a baby sculpture kit from my sister in law, a kit I could not wait to use.

After a trouble free birth, I brought my dear child home for the 1st time. Quickly before her first bath at home, my hubby and I made some of the best baby sculptures I have ever seen. Her tiny hands and feet all fit on the same bit of clay! Then we had to break out a canvas and our recently bought body paints for another initiation rite, bum prints!
