What Is The First Bed Your Baby Should Have?
15th March 2011 by Babies No CommentsYou will have a lot of choice when it comes to where you are going to put your baby to sleep for the first few months. You can buy a Moses basket, a crib, a carrycot or a hammock; however as you will be using these for a short time, you can also buy them second hand or borrow them from friends or relatives.
Moses Basket
The Moses basket is a very popular choice for newborn babies as they are cozy and lightweight and the baby will feel very secure in this. Materials often used to make a Moses basket include maize, palm or wicker which is stronger but more expensive. These baskets come with handles for portability and with a set of bedding, a hood and foam mattress. This bed will be cozy and secure for the baby but is not suitable for babies over the age of about two months so it can work out quite expensive.
Carrycots
A lot of people will choose a carrycot for their baby’s first bed. Some carrycots will come included with a pushchair so this makes then quite handy to use. However its mattress may not be suitable for night-time sleeping, and should be checked before buying. If you want to use the carrycot, you may have to buy a firmer mattress separately.
Cribs
Cribs also provide a safe and comfortable sleeping environment for your baby. The fact that a crib can be rocked or swayed from side to side is the best thing about them as this can help the baby to sleep.
If you want something that will last for at least four to six months then a crib is a better option than the Moses Basket. But the lack of portability and the price will mean that many others will prefer to go for the Moses Basket.
Hammocks
Baby hammocks are slings attached to metal frames. It comes with sheets, mattress and a mattress cover, and can be gently rocked to make your baby sleep. The disadvantages of the hammock are that they are not really widely available, can only be used for a couple of months and they are quite expensive.
When it comes to having little ones, just about all mums and dads realize how challenging this can be on the budget. From the moment they’re given birth to the cash begins to flow for just about all types of merchandise such as portable high chairs and what ever accessories accompany them. Look out for some of the major manufacturers in baby accessories, such as Keekaroo booster seats. And while you’re at it, you will want to think about many other baby items, which includes Inglisina high chairs.
