Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV)

Pneumococcal is the major cause of the bacterial infectious disease. This infectious disease is referred to as bacterial meningitis. This Pneumococcal disease is the main cause for numerous health problems in children below 5 years of age. There are nearly 200 deaths of children below this age each year because of this disease. Children below 2 years are at higher risk for dangerous disease. This disease is the major cause of many serious diseases such as pneumonia, blood poisoning, bronchitis, inflammation of the lining of the abdomen and inflammation of the middle ear. Sometimes young children surviving Pneumococcal meningitis are resulted with everlasting disability like intellectual impairment, language problems, paralysis, cerebral palsy, blindness and deafness. Hence it is necessary to provide the child with the about baby vaccine Pneumococcal Conjugate to prevent them from other severe diseases.
This Pneumococcal Conjugate vaccine should be given to toddlers and infants as it helps in the prevention of Pneumococcal infection and the spreading of this disease. This vaccine gives a protection to the children for nearly about 3 years. As most of the severe Pneumococcal disease or infections occur up to the 2 years, this baby vaccine protects the children from greater risk. Healthy toddlers and infants should be given four doses of this vaccine. The first dose of this vaccine should be injected in the second month. The second dose should be given in the fourth month followed by the third dose in the sixth month. The last or fourth dose should be given in twelve to fifteen months. This about baby vaccine is also suggested for children within two to five years of age suffering from disease that strikes the immune system. This vaccine protects the children from the risk of severe diseases.
