Lyme disease is a zoonotic disease caused by infection with spirochete Borellia burgdorferi. This disease is mostly prevalent among the western countries where the climate is more suitable for the virus replication. The number of deaths reported in the United States is about 200,000 annually before the national surveillance in 1982. Lyme disease is a multi infectious, inflammatory disease which is very fatal. At its early stage the disease can be treated with the oral antibiotics. If this sickness is allowed to prolong the infection may lead to severe complications that even cause one’s life. Thus about baby vaccine is discussed here. This is a tickborne disease which usually spreads through clothes and through some agents. The best measure to prevent the sickness is by adopting personal protective measures of using repellants and clothing and also by avoidance of tick-infested habits.

Recently two vaccines have been developed against Lyme disease. The scientists developed about baby vaccine by taking the recombinant strand of DNA of the B. burgdorferi species. This is because this strand of DNA contains the gene characteristics that is exactly opposite of the gene species causing Lyme disease. Transmission of this disease is not from person to person but only from infected animals. A vaccine developed from rOsp A of B.burgdorferi sensu stricto called LYMErix is proving to be effective. A researcher and a Brookhaven biologist named John Dunn said that rather to give the vaccine as such, we can make the vaccine a protein patent one. This is because if the vaccine is protein patented the two pieces of protein that combines itself and forms a protective lining for the organism to enter in and thereby increase the immunity.
