Today’s Sophisticated Baby Monitors Give You Peace of Mind
27th February 2010 by Babies No CommentsSeveral things about watching babies haven’t changed for thousands of years. But, happily, technology has improved one aspect significantly. Baby monitors permit for distant watching and listening that provides security and safety for the child and peace of mind for mom and dad.
Not surprisingly, since consumer electronics have developed to such an extent over the last 10-20 years, baby monitors are now similarly more highly developed. Quite a few have become a combination of security camera/TV, microphone and speaker, and computer all rolled into one. Not only do they provide the straightforward audio and/or visual ability that is basic to any baby monitor, however with added motion sensors and other features they enhance safety and security well ahead of previous models.
The most straightforward kinds provide simply audio. They are predominantly a microphone that transmits sound to a speaker in a distant room. However, even these low-end types can make it that much more convenient and beneficial than models of the past. The speaker, for instance, no longer is merely a little box that sits on a table. It can be in the form of a cell phone style unit that’s effortlessly transported in your pocket or on your belt.
More expensive but more functional types add a visual feature. The camera is focused on the baby’s room or bed. Here also, the receiving unit can be of one of two basic varieties. The less expensive styles feature a compact TV-style receiver that can be handily put on a kitchen counter or living room table. Others are a transportable monitor the size of a cell phone.
Another feature that has improved a lot over the years is the range. Just the same as with portable telephones, higher frequency baby monitors now permit the receiver and transmitter to be much farther apart than in the past. No longer limited to a few yards distant within the home, the mobile receiver can be positioned anywhere outside where your telephone will reach. Just as with phones, interference is practically a distant memory, too.
Still other types include internet and computer technology. These kinds can send out audio-video to your computer in the house or at work miles away. While not meant to permit parents to leave a baby unsupervised, it makes it easy for the parent at work to know right away what the one at home sees or hears.
Even more sophisticated units are available that sense the baby’s movements and give a warning when they reach specific limits of force or distance. That is highly beneficial for little ones who are a bit restless when sleeping or when you want to know if they’re waking up.
Baby monitors have made life so much easier for parents these days. Finding the best baby monitor for your needs is the only hard part, because there are so many to choose from!
